Understanding the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

What Is the CCPA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a state-level privacy law that took effect on January 1, 2020. It gives California residents greater control over how businesses collect, use, and share their personal information. The CCPA applies to many businesses that operate in California, even if they are based in other states or countries.

At Juan and Sons Moving and Delivery Service, we value transparency and are committed to complying with the CCPA and protecting your privacy.

Who Does the CCPA Apply To?

The CCPA generally applies to for-profit businesses that:

  • Have annual gross revenues over $25 million, or

  • Buy, receive, sell, or share personal information of 50,000 or more California residents, households, or devices annually, or

  • Derive 50% or more of their annual revenue from selling California residents' personal information.

Even if your business doesn't meet these thresholds, many companies voluntarily adopt CCPA practices to maintain customer trust.

Your Rights Under the CCPA

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you specific rights regarding your personal information:

1. Right to Know

You have the right to request that a business disclose what personal information it collects, uses, shares, or sells.

2. Right to Delete

You may request the deletion of personal information collected about you, with some exceptions (such as legal compliance or security purposes).

3. Right to Opt-Out

You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information to third parties. (Note: Juan and Sons does not sell your personal information.)

4. Right to Non-Discrimination

You will not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights. This means businesses can't deny you services, charge different prices, or provide lower-quality goods or services for making a privacy-related request.
